My first job in the service industry was working for the Tokugawa family, serving tea and food. They taught me about the Japanese concept of omotenashi, which is a deeply rooted cultural belief that anticipating the needs of one’s guests is a sacred charge.
Why?
Because of another concept called ichigo ichie, which is the belief that every time we meet someone new, it is a sacred, once-in-a-lifetime moment that deserves the utmost honor and presence of mind, body, and spirit. In other words, we only get one chance to make a first impression, and that first impression often sets the course for the rest of the relationship.
Whether we’re working together to develop an advertising campaign or coordinating a high-stakes sponsored event, it’s my priority to make sure that your target audience, sponsors, partners, and/or attendees receive the very best impression and have their needs met without having to ask.
My background also includes experience in media sales and creative services; I’ve helped clients find their voice — and their audience — across newspapers, magazines, websites, newsletters, and social platforms.
Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of organizations, from for-profit media groups like the Press Democrat News Group (formerly Sonoma Media Investments), to nonprofit institutions like Bay Nature Institute. I’ve also provided long-term freelance support for the Lodi Sandhill Crane Association, designing seasonal print and digital campaigns for four years running.
My work includes ad and promotional design for environmental authors such as Joseph Belli and Dick Evans, whose work I’m proud to support through thoughtful, compelling visual storytelling that reflects their unique voices and missions.
